Pakistan may have been a bit backward on the road to development, but now it is moving forward, a bit slow, yes, but forward. This year has proven to be a better year for Pakistan’s economy and telecommunication sector despite the crippling effects of Covid-19. If this export becomes a successful venture and manages to expand in more countries around the globe, it would have unimaginable effects on our economy and development.
Inovi Telecom, a manufacturer of household appliances and electronic devices, acquired authorization from Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) for manufacturing 4G mobiles on 9th April 2021. The CEO of Inovi Telecom, Zeeshan Mian Noor, disclosed that the company is manufacturing Chinese brands. However, he kept the name of the brand in complete secrecy. Zeeshan Mian has a brilliant vision for his company and Pakistan in the future as his primary aim was to penetrate mass markets of the Gulf countries. Moreover, because of him, Pakistan is now exporting mobile phones instead of importing them. This company has set an example of exceptional performance by fulfilling its first consignment of 5,500 4G smartphones within four months. Inovi Telecom shipped this consignment to the Middle Eastern countries.

This export can bring a revolutionary change to the economics of Pakistan. It may as well build up a strong image on the international level. The adviser for commerce and investment, Abdul Razak Dawood, believes that this export will be the beginning of an era with high value-added exports from Pakistan. He also added that this export had altered the traditional exports of Pakistan by product diversification. He further encouraged Pakistani manufacturers to emulate this staggering example and walk in their footsteps.

Lastly, this export would not be possible without government policies. IT and Telecom Minister, Amin ul Haque, stated that the Government had provided a favorable environment. He also added that the Government had implemented the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) to countermeasure illegal activities like smuggling.
The Telecom industry of Pakistan is one of the most prominent factors in its economy, boasting a 129% increase in its contribution to the national exchequer in 2020 relative to 2019.
