Tesla’s new Humanoid Robot, Is this the future of AI?

Elon Musk has revealed the Tesla bot that uses their vehicle AI.

Elon Musk has earlier referred to Tesla as a “Robotics” company but, that would not have been true. Since they only made Automobiles. That has now changed with Elon showing off the Tesla bot in the recently concluded “Tesla’s AI Day”

Tesla Bot’s reveal came at the tail end of the event when Elon Musk gave away some information regarding the robot. The Tesla bot named Optimus weighs 125 pounds and is 5 ft 8 inches tall. Tesla Bot’s face will be a screen that will show all the information related to the machine. It will also be running the same AI technology used by a wide range of Tesla vehicles. The robot is equipped with camera’s underneath its face. These cameras will help the robot sense the environment around it. Internally, the Tesla bot will be using the same self-driving computer used in Tesla cars.

Of course, there was a big elephant in the room that Elon needed to address, and he did exactly that. “It is intended to be friendly,” Elon said. It is right to point out that Elon Musk has gone on record saying that AI is the most significant risk we face as a society. But Elon made sure that people feel safe around the Tesla bot. Elon then explained that the Tesla bot could be easily overpowered and overrun in any dangerous situation. The Tesla bot will be able to do “dangerous, repetitive, and boring tasks.”

Everyone said the Tesla bot looks like a great product. But are we ready for an “I, Robot” style takeover? That remains to be seen. Since AI is the crowning jewel of technology right now, this was only a matter of time. Although we did not see the Humanoid in working condition, Musk hopes that a prototype will be ready next year.
