Technology in Pakistan has evolved a lot in recent years and, at the heart of this evolution are smartphones. Smartphones are undoubtedly the most used gadget in Pakistan. From a school student to a retired officer, everyone has a smartphone. It is probably the most constant thing in their life. And due to this exact reason, the smartphone market in Pakistan has been moving in an upward trajectory in recent years. Brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Infinix have taken over. And out of all these brands, Vivo is the first to set up a manufacturing facility in Pakistan.
In 2014, Vivo launched its “More Local, more global” strategy. This campaign was supposed to focus on the local user. And following this campaign, Vivo has set up production units in several different countries. Including one in Bangladesh last year. Vivo is now looking to set up a production unit in Pakistan.

Viva has invested a total of 10 million USD for the development of this manufacturing facility. All of this is being done following the “Made in Pakistan” initiative. This initiative is put forward for the betterment of Pakistan’s Economy and the local workers. The manufacturing plant has been set up in Faisalabad. The plant is already operational and can produce up to 500,000 smartphones per month. The first batch of “Made in Pakistan” smartphones has already been made.

After Vivo, Chinese companies like Realme and Xiaomi have also shown interest in building their manufacturing plants in Pakistan. Having so many top brands manufacturing their products in Pakistan will not only reduce the cost of these products but will also help in creating job opportunities for unemployed people. And both of these things will ultimately help in improving Pakistan’s economy.

The smartphone market in Pakistan is growing day by day with demand increasing all the time. Vivo setting up their manufacturing facility is a significant step in the right direction. And it is only a matter of time before more companies start following Vivo’s lead.
