Leaks Unveil New Windows 11 Interface

Despite all these changes, the Microsoft Store remains the same.

The next version of the Windows system has just been unveiled before its official release. This information leak, spotted by the American media The Verge, comes from the Chinese site Baidu and reveals unpublished images of Windows 11. This new interface is still only a pre-version of the final system, which is not still available to the general public.

Windows 11, codenamed Sun Valley, is a simplified version of its predecessor. Icons are on the taskbar, with the ability to move them to the left of the screen. More colorful elements, a dark mode, and a curvaceous design illustrate this new operating system. The rounded corners are present in the contextual menus, around the applications, and the file explorer.

The Start menu is also getting a makeover with a new button and the ability to pin applications such as the mail, calendar, photo gallery, or settings. The latest Xbox app is also included in Windows 11, offering quick access to games from the Game Pass subscription service. And a new icon has appeared, the one dedicated to Widgets. Fully customizable, this window can contain key information such as favorite news feeds or other web content. Windows 11 brings back Windows Widgets too.

Despite all these changes, the Microsoft Store remains the same. Microsoft had announced work on a new application store, so we will have to wait a little longer before discovering it. The redesign of the Microsoft Store will “open up greater economic opportunities for developers and creators,” according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Many application changes are assumed to appear too, but most of those don’t appear in the leaks. A significant part of the operating system seems finished, and a beta of this is presumed to arrive soon for Windows users to test.

If these leaks of elements reveal new features, we will have to wait for the final version of Windows 11. This update comes as the previous version, Windows 10, turns six this year. Never has a version of Windows lasted so long, and it’s starting to show its age. Microsoft had tried to update it with an operating system called Windows 10X, originally designed for dual-screen devices. This version was then canceled by the firm, which now recovers part of this work on Windows 11. Microsoft is supposed to unveil its final version of Windows 11 on 24th June’2021.
