Students create app to give tours of Walled City

Students at the have developed the ‘Lahori Khoji‘ smartphone app.

This app provides guided tours of Lahore’s Walled City.

Recent reports include the creation of an exclusive application named “Lahori Khoji” by students from Lahore University of Management Sciences, which offers guided tours of Lahore’s Walled City City. Dr. Ali Usman Qasmi, a professor and well-known historian at the university, was the one who first reported it.

The app was released to coincide with World Heritage Day and can be installed from the Google Play Store (April 18). According to Dr. Qasmi, before creating and improving the smartphone program, the students carried out detailed research. Students read the works of Syed Muhammad Latif, Kanahya Lal, and Chishti to study and gather valuable material on these traditional texts on the history of Lahore. They visited the walled town many times, spoke to people, toured the streets by themselves, listed important locations, drew them on Google maps, and wrote historical notes on them. The students were led by Syed Faizan Abbas Naqvi in their quest for useful information about the locations.

Dr. Ali says that before the implementation process, the application undertook in-depth testing and study. The students not only read the traditional books, but they also visited Walled City on many occasions. He added a disclaimer that students who have not had a good history created the software. The professor also noted that consumers should relay the details to developers if there is any misinformation or technical or factual errors staying humble enough

Nonetheless, it is a great achievement for the students!
