SMW-5 is connected to the cable system found in Egypt. When this essential cable connected to the International cable system had an error, it caused hindrances in the internet connectivity problems throughout Pakistan on Wednesday, 18th February.
This is not the first time something of this sort happened. Just a week before this, another cable had caused connectivity errors as it went totally offline.
This error could lead to retardation in the internet services globally and most likely in Europe as well. According to a representative from Trans World Associates, sufficient efforts are being made to ensure the connectivity issues are readily solved.
Meanwhile, internet users in Pakistan might experience slower speed rates as long as the issue is not completely solved. It is estimated that about a fortnight might be needed to make sure the errors are completely eliminated. Submarine cable often causes these connectivity issues in Pakistan while constant efforts are being made to improve the infrastructure.
