Just when we thought 2020 couldn’t surprise us anymore, SpaceX (Elon Musk’s aerospace company) plans to race remote-control cars on the moon!
Finding people who qualify to make these car designs must be a challenge, thus 6 teams including five members each were qualified, these 6 teams were then challenged like never before through e-gaming, drone racing, and space commercialization entrepreneurship contest. Through the challenges 2 teams were selected, one from Buenos Aires ‘Team Atlas’ and the other from Shanghai ‘Team Telstar’
As if the designing model for the biggest remote control car wasn’t enough, these teams get to work with the legend; Stephenson Frank who is known for his work at BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, and many others; helping design the cars.
The race is being organized by Moon Mark; an educational multimedia company, who has partnered with Intuitive Machines and Lunar Outpost (both aerospace companies).
Both of the finished products will deploy on the Moon by Nova-C lander, designed by the Intuitive Machines to deliver small commercial payloads to the surface of the Moon, following a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch in October 2021.
