Russian Hackers Have Gained access to American Government!

Russian hackers are starting a Cyber War and it is believed their first attack was on 13th December.

The first breach reported on 13th December included the Treasury and Departments of Commerce and Homeland security and unfortunately, it could take months of work to cater to the effect of the techniques used as it’ll take months to identify all the victims and remove whatever they have implanted.

Solar wind an American company that develops software for businesses to help manage their networks) plays a huge part in this breach as the hackers first infiltrated Orion; software used by solar winds to manage networks. Any client that downloaded this software after March downloaded the hacked software and was now giving the hackers a door into their systems.

Even though Solar Winds have around 300,000 customers, the firm after doing some investigation days fewer than 18,000 downloaded the corrupted software. Given that Solar Winds customers include top companies in America and governments; a lot of damage could be caused by these 18,000 customers.

U.S Officials suspect these hackers belong to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service and are known as APT29 who successfully carried out a list of breaches like the Hack Of the National Democratic Committee in 2016.

However, Russia denies any involvement. Russian hackers have gained access to the American government!
