SpaceX conducted a trial launch but the rocket exploded!

On Tuesday, it reached the stratosphere, upon landing in Boca Chica, Texas, an explosion destroyed the rocket after approximately seven minutes of the journey. Such an outcome was not surprising and SpaceX celebrated the risky experiment as a success, live on YouTube. “AWESOME TEST. CONGRATS STARSHIP TEAM!” the company communicated meanwhile streaming the remnants of the rocket known as Starship serial No. 8, or simply SN8.

The founder of the company Elon Musk had estimated a 2/3 probability that the flight would result in failure. According to Elon a “lot of things need to go right” for the rocket to land in one piece. The reason for this was that this journey was the most vigorous voyage attempted by the SN8. With a huge 16 stories tall body and equipped with three Raptor rocket engines this rocket was the most sophisticated model SpaceX ever launched.

The rocket was expected to launch 12.5 kilometers into the air above SpaceX’s Boca Chica facility. Approximately 7 minutes after liftoff, the vehicle attempted to land but crashed as a result of insufficient thrust leading to an explosion. “Successful ascent, the switchover to header tanks, and precise flap control to landing point!” Elon said in a tweet after the flight, followed by “SN8 did great! Even reaching apogee would have been great, so controlling all way to putting a crater in the right spot was epic”.
