All you need to know about the proposal for the new electronic election system.
PM Imran Khan announces the introduction of a new voting system in Pakistan as a response to the fresh election rigging allegations in Gilgit Baltistan. The idea is to make the election process ‘fair and transparent’ as it has been repeatedly established that ballot-voting is not the most reputable way to go about it.
The PM continues to say that the government is also working on making the senate election more ‘transparent’ so as to reduce accusations. Not only that but his amendment would require a change in the constitution which in turn means a two-thirds majority needs to pass it.
He is hopeful, however, of support and observes, “It is now up to the rest of the political parties to decide whether they will support this reform or not to end corruption in this process.”
